Volunteering @ the Open Door : )

As I'm sure you know, while our pastors do a *great* job, there is so much more that needs to happen "behind the scenes" and the pastors cannot do it alone!

We need greeters to make new people feel welcome and comfortable to come back again, and those to pray with and for people that are hurting, and so much more! When you help during a worship service you contribute as the pastors do to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...and to love your neighbor as yourself!" (Matthew 22:37-40)

Below is a description of the volunteer opportunities available. If you would like to volunteer for something, please:

Volunteer Opportunities

SET UP & GREETING

WHAT: Warmly greet visitors, and get things ready for worship

WHEN: Please arrive by 9:30 am

HOW: Complete the follow tasks before people arrive:
* Set out 3 sandwich boards (two outside, one inside). You can find all three signs in the back of the stage.
* Set-up welcome table with masks and set out church information including QR codes. You can find a tote labeled “Welcome Table” on the shelf in the back of the stage.
* Help Set up communion and fill Baptismal Bowl. Please set up table, tablecloth, elements and fill about 50-60 cups of juice.
* Make sure sign-in and bulletins are set out by the chapel door.
* You get bonus points if you make coffee. The coffee pot is under the counter in the cafeteria, and the things needed for coffee are in a tote marked “Coffee Supplies” on the shelf behind the stage.
* As worshippers arrive, please greet them and direct them to the QR codes for the bulletin and sign-in.

PRAYER TEAM & CLEANUP 

WHAT: You pray with people as needed after worship service, and help tidy up afterwards

WHEN: Directly after worship please move to the front of the sanctuary and be available to hear congregants' concerns.
After everyone has been prayed for please help clean up.

HOW: Pray for congregants when asked and then after everyone has been prayed for help clean up the communion and put the elements away behind the stage.

VISUALS

WHAT: Using the church's laptop, you will forward through the worship slides so we're all literally on the same page during worship

WHEN: Please arrive by 9:55 am

HOW: We encourage you to complete the following tasks before worship:
* Use metal clamps to hang screen in front of chapel
* The Laptop should be plugged in and the slide show should be open by the time you arrive. Please click through the slide presentation to get a sense of the worship service
* Check in with pastors to make sure slides are in right order
* Check in with musicians to make sure songs are in the right order.
* During the service you will remain in the back of the sanctuary and click through the slides during worship as needed.

LITURGIST

WHAT: You read preselected material for you during the worship service

WHEN: Please arrive by 10 am and check in with a pastor

HOW: You should receive the liturgy for the week by the Thursday proceeding the Sunday. Read through the materials beforehand. Please arrive to worship by 10 am, and check in with Pastor Cheryl to make sure you have a copy of the materials and understand your parts and flow of worship. Please feel free to make the liturgy that is provided more authentic to your voice and introduce the sections of worship with your understanding of their importance.

CAMERA OPERATOR

WHAT: Maintain the live stream of worship on Zoom using the church’s iPad and microphone.

WHEN: Please arrive by 9:50 am

HOW: Before worship: Set-up tripod in second row pew, log-into Zoom account, place iPad on tripod, connect microphone, set microphone on stand in first row. During worship: monitor screen to make sure the camera is pointed correctly and that sound is working.
