Cleanup

THE JOB: Clean up after service. Let’s leave things better than we found them.

WHEN: After worship

HOW: Cleaning up is an “all hands on deck” activity that is really too much for just one person. Recruit people who are still around to help you. Cleaning up includes putting away the communion table, greeter table, sandwich signs, cleaning up the coffee and coffee area, and vacuuming the sanctuary as necessary.

  • COMMUNION TABLE:  The baptismal water bowl, communion pitcher, cups and plate are to be cleaned in the “laundry room” to be cleaned. (This room is located in the hallway to the right of the kitchen.) After washing, dry everything, and put items neatly back into the “Communion” bin.

  • GREETER TABLE: Neatly place all items on the table back into the proper plastic bin. Fold the table cloth. Return the bin to the storage shelf behind the stage. Push the table back against the nearest wall in the entrance hallway.

  • SANDWICH SIGNS: Return signs to behind the stage to the left of the back door.

  • COFFEE: We have access to a utility sink in the Laundry Closet. To find this sink from the cafeteria, walk toward the kitchen and turn right down the hallway. The laundry closet is the second closet on the left--it's not too far. Please do NOT use the kitchen. Drain leftover coffee into the sink. Rinse the coffee urn and filter basket and run hot water through the dispensing valve. Grounds can be thrown out in the garbage. Put away coffee supplies in the plastic bin and return it to the storage shelves behind the stage. Please contact Heather List if low on coffee, cups, etc.

  • VACUUM: To vacuum, use one of the upright vacuums in the closet to the right of the kitchen. If time allows, vacuum under the pews, the aisle and across the front of the sanctuary.
